About Rotaaa

Rotaaa builds and publishes shift rotas: staff down the side, days across the top, with conflicts, contracted hours and job roles checked as you plan. It exists for the businesses that run on shifts and cannot run a rota in a spreadsheet without something eventually double-booking someone.

Rotaaa is built around businesses with several sites, a week that changes on Tuesday, and staff who read the plan on a phone between shifts: hospitality, retail, care, logistics, events.

Rotaaa is built and run by ImKyleJK, as live portfolio work rather than a company with a pricing page. There is no investor to satisfy and no card to eventually charge, so the plan is to keep it free.

See what’s live on the home page, and the changelog for when each of them arrived — both are kept current rather than describing a roadmap as though it were shipped.

One person builds this, so the question is fair and it deserves an answer rather than reassurance. Nothing about your data depends on us still being here to release it.

Your organisation settings hand back the entire account — people, rotas, leave, allowances and timesheet entries — as one file, at any time, without asking us and without waiting for us. Individual screens export to a spreadsheet on top of that. If you take a copy every month, the worst case is that you are a month behind rather than that you have lost anything.

Beyond that, the terms are where the obligations actually sit, and they are worth reading on this point specifically. A capability being withdrawn is announced plainly and far enough ahead for you to take a copy of the data behind it. If Rotaaa ever stopped being free, that is announced before it takes effect and is never applied to a period you have already used. For thirty days after a business is closed a copy is still available on request. And because the agreement is with a person rather than a company, it says what happens if that changes: it can pass to a company incorporated to carry Rotaaa on, to whoever takes over running it, or — on death or incapacity — to his personal representatives, in each case only where your rights under it are not reduced.

What we do not offer is a guarantee that this runs forever, because nobody honestly can. What we offer instead is that your data is portable at every moment, on your initiative rather than ours.
